> About Us

Chef Mike, Terry, John Michael, and our entire
staff at Caliente Gourmet would like to thank
each and every one of our wonderful customers,
from all over the world, who visited our retail
shops over the past three years, first in San
Marcos, then Escondido, and finally Carlsbad,
CA. Because of the growth of our own specialty
gourmet products and seasoning company, we have
shifted gears, so to speak, and closed the retail
shops. Increasingly higher mall overhead was a
major factor. (It's too bad that malls are driving
away small local businesses. One of these days,
very soon, all malls will look alike...wait a
minute...they DO look alike!) We'll continue to
serve our loyal retail customers through this
website and select retail establishments, as we
continue to expand our wholesale and food service
business.
ABOUT OUR SEASONINGS & PRODUCTS
We began with only two "Chef Mike"
gourmet blends a few years ago, and launched the
"Old Texican" line in 2002, winning
an astonishing seven top industry awards that
year, including two international First Place
Awards. I think we did it because our Old Texican
Seasonings are the best tasing and best made seasonings
anywhere. We take the extra time to find the freshest
and best ingredients - not the cheapest - and
we blend in small batches to insure freshness
and top quality. We don't use any artificial anything.
Think about it... If you need a chemistry degree
to understand what you're eating, you have to
figure something's wrong. We don't use chemical
additives. And we will never use MSG.
And there's one more thing. To us, it's more
than a business. It's about creating the very
best tasting spice blends, and carrying the best
cooking products, and sharing with you good folks
what we have shared with our family and friends
for years, at our own table. We sincerely hope
that you'll enjoy using our products as much as
we enjoy making them. Our products have a love
in them that goes all the way back to when I was
just a youngster, watching my grandma cook. There
was a big porcelain wood stove on one side of
the kitchen and a gas stove on the other side.
During the holidays, it seemed that half the town
showed up for my grandma's cookin.' There was
a whole lotta' love coming from that kitchen,
and that's where it all started for me... watching
and helping my grandma cook. She was the very
best chef I'll ever know! It was her great love
for cooking and using only the freshest and best
ingredients, never compromising quality, that
I now share with each and every product I make.
We appreciate your business; and, thank you for
visiting us!
